Resource Distribution

The Caribbean Primate Research Center created the CPRC Allocation Committee to facilitate the practical and efficient supply of Conventional and Specific Pathogen-Free nonhuman primates (NHPs) and biological samples.

The CPRC Allocation Committee comprises the Sabana Seca Field Station (SSFS) Colony Manager, SSFS Assistant Colony Manager, SSFS Operations Supervisor, Associate Director of Veterinary Affairs, Director of the Unit of Comparative Medicine, and the Principal Investigator. The Associate Director for Veterinary Affairs chairs this Committee.

The Committee is tasked with reviewing all animal requests and allocates resources in consultation with the CPRC Director. Such proposals will be evaluated according to the prioritization guideline set forth by ORIP/NIH and the Committee's careful and fair evaluation of the requisitions received.

Priority is given to NIH-funded investigators in universities, the NIH Intramural Program, and contractors working on behalf of researchers conducting experiments under NIH-funded programs. If allocation requests fall within the same priority category, the Committee will allocate animals on a first-come-first-serve basis. Information regarding available animals for the scientific community is routinely provided in the Washington Resources Referral Services (Support Locator). Furthermore, non-NIH-funded investigators may still be considered depending on resource availability.

To request for CPRC animals, the institution's authorized representative will need to submit an Animal Allocation Request form to the following address:
